Overview

Head of Safeguarding, Quality & Transformation — Peripatetic role with travel across multiple services.

Are you the kind of leader who thrives on turning challenges into victories? The kind of professional who can walk into a struggling service, steady the ship, raise standards, and inspire a team to deliver excellence? If that sounds like you, then keep reading.

This is not a role for the faint of heart. It’s for a bold, decisive operator who knows safeguarding inside-out, understands the mechanics of quality improvement, and can drive real, measurable transformation.

What You’ll Do

  • Be the safeguarding lead, embedding a culture where safety and compliance aren’t just tick-boxes — they’re non-negotiables.
  • Step in as a turnaround specialist when services hit turbulence, providing hands-on leadership and stability.
  • Design and roll out a competency-based workforce framework that raises the bar for staff at every level.
  • Lead mock inspections, audits, and quality reviews — ensuring services are inspection-ready at all times.
  • Drive transitional change projects, guiding services through re-models, re-registrations, and new commissioning requirements.
  • Champion digital systems, ensuring platforms are embedded, used effectively, and powering smarter care.

What You Bring

  • A proven record of leading quality improvement, governance, and safeguarding.
  • Experience in turnaround projects and the guts to step into management roles when needed.
  • Strong knowledge of CQC regulations and the ability to get services inspection-ready.
  • The leadership presence to mentor, coach, and influence teams at every level.
  • A full UK driving licence and the willingness to travel extensively.
  • Desirable extras: Registered Manager experience, Level 5 in Leadership for Health & Social Care, or a nursing qualification.

Why This Role Matters

This isn’t about babysitting. It’s about making an impact. You’ll be at the sharp edge of safeguarding, quality, and transformation — ensuring services not only meet standards, but exceed them.

If you’re ready to lead from the front, roll up your sleeves, and take ownership of transformational change, this role gives you the platform to do exactly that.
