Overview
Head of Sales & Events – Sport & Leisure — A fast-growing sports and leisure organisation are looking for a Head of Sales & Events to unlock new revenue opportunities across events, sponsorships, and retail. This is a brand-new role with significant growth potential, suited to someone commercially driven with a passion for delivering exceptional experiences.
The role combines business development, event delivery and partnership management. You’ll be responsible for generating income through corporate and private events, building and managing sponsor relationships, and expanding retail opportunities across multiple venues.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with marketing to align campaigns with commercial goals.
- Drive revenue from retail, merchandise, food & beverage by shaping offers and supplier relationships.
- Build and manage a strong sales pipeline, from lead generation to contract signing.
- Oversee delivery of high-quality events with support from venue teams and suppliers.
- Negotiate and deliver partnership activations, ensuring value for both clients and business.
- Seek out new commercial opportunities and develop repeatable event models.
- Maintain relationships with clients and sponsors to encourage renewals and upsells.
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong communication skills with proven ability to build trusted relationships.
- Track record of meeting or exceeding sales and revenue targets.
- 4–8 years’ experience in sales, partnerships or event management (sport, leisure, hospitality or lifestyle preferred).
- Hands-on, proactive and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
- Confident project manager with strong organisational and budgeting skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset — positive, driven and solutions-focused.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of multi-site operations or growing businesses.
- Existing contacts within relevant industries.
- A genuine passion for sport, fitness, or active leisure.
Base pay range
£45–55k base + commission (up to 20%)
