With a rich history of excellence in designing, constructing, and maintaining buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide, we are now offering an exciting opportunity for a Head of Services within our Equans Digital business. The role can be based either from our office in Glasgow or London, but with the view that this position is a national one.

Role Overview

The Head of Services will be responsible for overseeing the operational service delivery to customers of building automation, energy management, smart monitoring, and maintenance. This role requires a leader with a strong customer and operational focus, with SaaS and data platform experience, who can interpret technical insights from deployed systems and refine service offerings based on data-driven decision-making.

Key activities

  1. Lead the operational service delivery across the organisation.
  2. Oversee ongoing service delivery following technology deployments (e.g., BMS, IoT installations), ensuring effective maintenance, data analysis, and actionable insights.
  3. Responsible for maintenance field engineering and remote operations centre (based in Glasgow), ensuring alignment on service delivery objectives.
  4. Develop and refine data-driven service offerings, leveraging insights from deployed systems to enhance energy management, automation, and sustainability solutions.
  5. Engage directly with clients to understand business needs, deliver value-added insights, and strengthen long-term partnerships.
  6. Work closely with technical teams to interpret and apply data analytics, automation trends, and digital transformation strategies.
  7. Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance for the services function, ensuring profitability and service excellence.
  8. Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) standards, fostering a strong safety culture.
  9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including projects, and pre-sales, IT.
  10. Drive innovation within the service model, positioning Equans UK as a leader in digital and smart monitoring solutions.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  1. Proven leadership experience in energy services, technical services, or a related sector.
  2. Strong SaaS and data platform experience, with a deep understanding of analytics and insights-driven service models.
  3. Ability to interpret technical data from BMS, IoT, and energy monitoring systems to drive operational improvements.
  4. Strong commercial acumen, with business development, contract negotiation, and client engagement experience.
  5. Expertise in smart monitoring, automation, and energy solutions.
  6. Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  7. A proactive and innovative mindset, with the ability to refine service models based on data insights.
  8. Financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and P&L accountability.
  9. Industry background in energy consultancies, smart monitoring, SaaS/software companies, or OEMs preferred.
  10. A relevant degree in Engineering, Business, Energy Management, or a related field.
  11. Professional qualifications such as CEng, NEBOSH, IOSH, or PRINCE2 are desirable.
