Job Type: Permanent

Location: Hybrid – based in London, Birmingham or Edinburgh.

Salary and benefits: From £130,000 plus an indicative bonus range of 30%‑60%, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12× salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3× volunteering days and more.

The Role: Provide expert tax advice and in‑depth strategic support to the business, embedding tax efficiency into financial decision‑making and long‑term planning. We seek someone with deep life tax expertise who can translate technical tax matters into business‑relevant insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver in‑depth tax analysis and guidance on Finance‑led and cross‑functional projects, ensuring tax risks and opportunities are fully understood and addressed.
  • Support the development and maintenance of high‑quality tax‑sensitive modelling and forecasting capabilities within the Finance Planning and Actuarial teams.
  • Lead scenario modelling and tax planning to support future business growth, including strategic initiatives and long‑term planning.
  • Ensure tax efficiency is embedded in the management of capital activity, advising on tax implications and opportunities.
  • Monitor and interpret actual and potential regulatory and legislative changes, advising on their impact to finance metrics and providing early notice of emerging issues.
  • Build strong networks across the business to ensure tax is embedded in the business decision‑making process.

Essential Qualifications

  • Deep, extensive life tax expertise.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory framework for life companies in the UK, including Loss Absorbing Capacity of Deferred Tax (LACDT).
  • Proven track record of working with life professionals outside tax, including actuarial and accounting teams.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experience presenting to boards and audit committees.
