About us

We are based in the lovely town of Hertford with 2 Vets, 1 RVN, 2 VCA’s, and a full-time receptionist. The clinic is built on purpose-built premises with separate wards for cats and dogs, an isolation unit, ultrasound, digital X-ray, in-house laboratory with microscope, capnography with pulse oximetry, and a theatre dedicated to sterile procedures. We have a high percentage of insured pets, and we run 30-minute appointments for non-routine cases and 15-minute appointments for vaccines to provide the best service.

About you

You will help with the daily running of the practice to ensure high standards of care for patients and clients. Nurses are the heart of our practice, performing an integral clinical role. You’ll have excellent communication and organization skills, pride in high standards, and an interest in learning about the practice as a business. Your ability to embrace all aspects of the Veterinary Nurse role, deliver excellent patient and client care, and motivate a team will be key to your success.

As a Head Nurse, you’ll oversee the clinical team’s daily operations, assist in developing nurses’ skills, and have managerial skills to optimize workflow. You’ll also be involved in appraisals, clinical care auditing, and inspiring the team. You will be supported by our Practice Owner, an experienced vet with a Master in Clinical Oncology.

About the role

We offer flexible full or part-time hours to promote work-life balance. There are no OOH shifts, and only 1 in 3 Saturdays, for which you will receive extra pay or time off in lieu. The shifts are:
