You will be line managed by the Principal Public Health Intelligence Specialist and work within the wider Public Health Team, based in the Population Health team.

What will I be doing?

You’ll work within Bristol City Council’s Public Health Team, supporting the development of intelligence and data that informs local decision-making across the health and care system. During the 36-month programme you’ll gain hands-on experience with real-world data and policy, while developing skills for a specialist career in public health analysis, epidemiology, or healthcare intelligence.

  • Analyse and interpret complex health, care and population data.
  • Communicate evidence clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Support development of the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA).
  • Use tools like Excel, R and Power BI to support your analysis.
  • Collaborate with internal teams in the council, NHS partners, academics, and the voluntary sector.

You will also complete a Level 7 Health and Care Intelligence Specialist apprenticeship, delivered by JGA Group.
