What you’ll be doing:
Provide technical and professional advice and guidance to all levels of the Business to ensure compliance with the requirements of legislation for the operational use, environmental protection and transportation in regard to radioactive materials and radiation producing equipment
Participate fully in developing, maintaining, and modifying processes and procedures in line with operational needs and driving continual improvement for radiological protection matters
Support Engineering Manager – Health Physics Services in provision of Health Physics Cell in support of Nuclear Emergency Response Organisation
Production of Radiological Protection documentation (e.g., Risk Assessments and Local Rules) for activities involving radioactive materials
Act as Technical Authority in the provision of specialist advice to the Business relating to radiological protection matters to ensure compliance with legislative requirements (e.g., IRR17 and EPR 2016)
Creation of relevant training materials to provide operational and environmental radiological protection information, instruction, and training to the Business
Compliant with all health and safety requirements and qualifications for the role and position
Your skills and experiences:
Essential
Qualified to Degree level in relevant STEM discipline (or able to demonstrate relevant competence or experience)
Desirable:
Qualified to or working towards Post Graduate qualification in radiological protection (PGDip minimum)
A detailed understanding of IRR17, EPR16 and Radiological Transportation
Relevant experience working in a Radiological or Health Physics environment within a Nuclear setting, preferably within the Submarine Enterprise

The Health Physics Team:
As a Health Physicist, you will Provide technical and professional advice and guidance to ensure compliance with requirements of legislation, operations, training, maintenance, and record keeping. For this role, we are looking for a candidate to develop over time within the team. As part of our drive to develop home grown talent, we are looking to provide you with the necessary training, skills and experience, to enable you to fulfil this role. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
