Job Title: Housing Litigation Solicitor (Social Housing)

Salary: £47,931.84 per annum (£52,920.80 after 12 months in role, subject to successful performance)
Working Hours: Full Time – 35 hours
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
Location: Speke, Liverpool
Riverside is seeking a Housing Litigation Solicitor to join the in-house Legal Team, providing high quality, well-judged legal advice related to housing management functions and housing litigation. The role focuses on ensuring casework is well managed, compliant with regulatory, legislative and common law obligations, and involves raising awareness of sector developments, identifying risk, and training relevant stakeholders. The role is primarily focused on the Social Housing Team but may support other business areas as needed, including disrepair, building compliance, compensation, and complaints.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a degree from a recognised UK university (or equivalent from a non-UK university)
- Holds a professional legal qualification recognized by the Solicitors Regulation Authority or equivalent
- Has strong technical experience in non-contentious housing management matters and contentious landlord and tenant matters (e.g., tenancy management, anti-social behaviour, possession, injunctions, contempt of court) either for Claimant or Defendant
- Has experience managing a large caseload and delivering excellent outcomes
Responsibilities
- Provide contentious and non-contentious housing legal advice across the business, including anti-social behaviour cases, possession proceedings, injunctions, contempt of Court applications, and related housing management issues
- Manage a caseload with a view to sensible outcomes while attending and representing the business in Court as required
- Support the Housing Litigation Team to reduce external legal spend by carefully managing instructions
- Assist in upskilling colleagues and delivering training for the wider business
- Contribute to improving legal team systems and processes to deliver value-for-money services
- Maintain case management systems and audit databases; help develop management information to demonstrate impact
- Work with internal stakeholders and external advisers to manage risks and uphold governance
- Adhere toEmployer policies and participate in reporting processes
Learning and Development
- Develop knowledge of new areas of law as required to support the Housing Litigation Team
- Work towards personal and team objectives and participate in required training
Desirable
Experience in the social housing sector, ideally for a housing association, local authority, or legal practice representing tenants.
Additional Information
- Hybrid role with remote working; required to attend head office in Speke, Liverpool, or other TRGL offices as demanded
- Potential travel to other locations as required
- Role may involve handling sensitive information; maintain confidentiality at all times
