Housing Options Officer

• Hourly Rate: £21.67 PAYE or £25 Umbrella
• Location: Oxford City (Hybrid - minimum 1 day per week in office, potential for fully remote)

We are seeking a Housing Options Officer to specialise in processing homeless applications, particularly for former asylum seekers who have been granted refugee status. This role is crucial in supporting individuals under Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996. The position offers flexibility in working arrangements with a preference for at least one office day per week, though fully remote work may be considered for the right candidate.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Assess and process homeless applications under Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 with a focus on applications from former asylum seekers now with refugee status.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to applicants, ensuring they understand their rights and the options available to them.
• Collaborate with other agencies and services to provide a holistic support system for applicants.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of all applications and interactions.
• Stay updated with any changes in legislation or policy that impact the processing of homeless applications.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience in processing homeless applications under Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996.
• Strong understanding of the needs and rights of refugees and asylum seekers.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and empathy.
• Proficient in relevant local authority systems and databases.
