HSE Advisor

New Yesterday

At AQA, we’re committed to advancing education and we’re committed to our people. As the largest provider of academic qualifications in the UK , we mark over 10 million exam papers each year and it’s our people who make this happen.

HSE Advisor
Permanent
Manchester
£38,500 to £40,000
Hybrid Working – 3 days in office per week

You’ve read a hundred job ads that all sound the same. “Dynamic environment.” “Fast-paced.” “No two days the same.” Yawn.
Let’s cut to it: AQA needs an HSE Advisor who knows their stuff, cares about people, and wants to make a real difference—not just tick boxes.

There are loads of company benefits too, including private medical insurance, a fantastic pension (up to 11.5% employer contributions), a 35 hour working week, 25 days annual leave with additional office closure in December and bank holidays on top, the opportunity to join lots of network groups (LGTBQ+, neurodiversity, disAbility, empowering women, wellbeing, ethnic minority and more) an extensive online learning platform, days for volunteering and more.

This isn’t just about clipboards and compliance. You’ll be the right hand to the Group HSE & Business Continuity Manager, helping shape how health, safety, and environment are delivered across all AQA sites. We are expanding our portfolio so construction experience could be helpful to support HSE services. You’ll work with a respected Workplace team (seriously, they scored sky-high in the latest engagement survey), and you’ll be rubbing shoulders with operational leaders, senior managers, and hybrid workers across the UK.

You’ll be the go-to for:

Making sure our HSE practices are more than just paperwork.

Auditing, investigating, advising, and improving.

Training people so they get it—not just nod along.

Supporting sustainability and business continuity projects that actually matter.

You’ll thrive here if:

You’ve got the NEBOSH Diploma or General Certificate (and the scars to prove it).

You know your way around data, audits, and risk assessments.

You’re organised, proactive, and allergic to mediocrity.

You are able to speak with colleagues at every level

You want to be part of a team that’s not just respected, but genuinely liked.

This is your chance to be more than a cog in the compliance machine. You’ll be part of a team that’s building something better—for colleagues, for the business, and for the planet.

Ready to step up?
Apply now and show us how you’ll make AQA safer, smarter, and stronger.
Or don’t—and keep wondering what it would’ve been like to actually enjoy your HSE job.
