HR Business Partner – Operations (12-month FTC)

c.£50,000 + travel | Location flexible across the UK

I’m partnering with a large, complex business to hire an HR Business Partner into their Operations function on a 12‑month fixed term contract. The role is very much embedded in the day‑to‑day realities of a fast‑moving operational environment, supporting senior Ops leaders, developing capability, and ensuring people priorities land well on the ground.

This is a hands‑on business partnering role. You’ll be visible in sites, understand how operational decisions are made, and bring clarity to people issues without overcomplicating things. Travel is part of the role, but it’s planned sensibly around regional footprints and personal circumstances.

Role Focus

• Partner senior Operations leaders to support workforce planning, team capability and everyday people priorities
• Develop and deliver a clear People Plan aligned to operational goals
• Use data and workforce insights to help guide decisions and highlight areas for improvement
• Support performance management, talent development and succession planning conversations
• Work constructively with Trade Union representatives where needed
• Support organisational change activity in a structured, compliant way
• Deliver core people processes (performance cycle, engagement activity, talent reviews)
• Manage complex ER cases
• Ensure the HR operating model works well and raise improvements where appropriate

What we’re looking for

• Experience in an HR Business Partner role within a multi‑site, operational or logistics‑style environment
• Strong stakeholder management skills — able to build trust and credibility
• Clear communicator who keeps things practical rather than procedural
• Willing and able to travel across a region (with flexibility in how this is planned)
