Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Indirect Tax Assistant Manager to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing indirect tax compliance, ensuring adherence to tax regulations, and providing tax advice. The role involves working closely with other departments, such as finance, legal, and operations and driving continuous improvement across all areas.

Responsibilities

  • Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate preparation, filing and payment of GB, IE, JE indirect tax returns (e.g. VAT, GST, PPT)
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet accounts
  • Manage the product file and review VAT treatment of new products
  • Prepare the quarterly Partial Exemption calculation
  • Maintenance of the Bespoke VAT Retail Scheme (BRSA)
  • Maintain Risk and Control matrices and SOP documents
  • Manage trade compliance requirements; including but not limited to managing the Ireland TAN account, deferment account and reconciliation of CDS reports
  • Preparing data and information to respond to adhoc requests, ensuring all documentation and responses are accurate and timely
  • Monitor and interpret changes in VAT legislation
  • Provide expert advice, and training when required, on indirect tax matters, including the impact of new tax legislation, policy changes, and changes in tax rates
  • Provide VAT advice to the business on a range of areas, including property and healthcare transactions
  • Prepare and present indirect tax matters to senior management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional tax qualification (e.g., ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in indirect tax, preferably within a multinational corporation or a public accounting firm.
  • Retail experience preferred but not required

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of indirect tax laws and regulations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply a risk based approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills (formulas and pivot tables)
  • Experience using Oracle Financials preferred

Hours: 37.5 hours, 9.00am – 5.30pm. Hybrid working available (2 days from home, 3 days in office near East Croydon Station).
