Overview
As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence‑led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to build a greater understanding of the Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety.
This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team. You will support area teams by providing Memex training and promote the use and benefits of Memex and improve the quality of intelligence submitted. You will provide face to face training on our Intelligence system, MEMEX, and support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches. You will supervise intelligence logs to ensure high standards of quality in submissions and create entities from Memex submissions. You will provide regular reports on performance and feedback on ways to improve performance.
Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices will be required on occasions. Interviews are expected to be via Microsoft Teams in October. We welcome flexible working patterns and encourage applicants to specify their preferred arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Provide Memex training to area staff and promote the use and benefits of Memex.
- Improve the quality of intelligence submissions and assist area teams with submitting intelligence and conducting searches.
- Supervise intelligence logs to maintain high submission quality.
- Create entities from Memex submissions and generate regular performance reports with improvement feedback.
- Ensure high standards of intelligence submission quality and adhere to safety checks.
- Deliver face-to-face training on MEMEX and support area teams in intelligence processes.
- Contribute to a responsive, intelligence-led approach across teams and incidents as required.
- Other duties commensurate with the role.
Experience / Skills Required
- Good understanding of intelligence and intelligence systems.
- Ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed it across teams.
- Excellent influencing skills to promote Memex use and mandatory safety checks.
- Strong relationship-building abilities and ability to create and deliver engaging, inclusive training.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback to improve intelligence submission performance.
- Strong self-management and organisational skills.
- Team-oriented with the ability to support colleagues to achieve common goals.
Additional Information
- You will need to be comfortable working in a dispersed team.
- Security vetting checks (SC and NPPV3) will be required.
