Overview
As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to build a greater understanding of the Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety.
This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team. You will support area teams by providing Memex training and promote the use and benefits of Memex and improve the quality of intelligence submitted. You will provide face-to-face training to area staff on our Intelligence system, MEMEX, and support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches. You will supervise intelligence logs to ensure a high standard of quality in submissions, create entities from Memex submissions, and provide regular reports on performance with feedback to improve performance. You will ensure high standards of quality of intelligence submissions and undertake other duties commensurate with the role.

Travel to Birmingham and other offices where staff are based will be required on occasions. Interviews are via Microsoft Teams and expected in October.

Team and context
The Intelligence Team manages and develops all criminal intelligence for the Environment Agency. The team builds and maintains strong relationships with partners to drive an intelligence-led approach to tackling environmental crime across regimes and to meet customer needs.
Experience / Skills Required
- A good understanding of Intelligence and Intelligence systems
- An ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed across teams
- Excellent influencing skills, ensuring Memex use is the norm and safety checks are mandatory
- Success in building strong, effective relationships
- Ability to create and deliver engaging, effective and inclusive training
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback on ways to improve intelligence submission performance
- Strong self-management and organisational skills
- Great teamwork to support colleagues achieve common goals

Other information
Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices will be required on occasions. Note that we are not able to support visa applications for this role.
