Overview

As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to build a greater understanding of the Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety. This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team. You will support area teams by providing Memex training and promote the use and benefits of Memex and improve the quality of intelligence submitted. You will be involved in face-to-face training on our Intelligence system, MEMEX, and provide support to enable area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.

You will also supervise intelligence logs to ensure a high standard of quality in submissions, create entities from Memex submissions, provide regular reports on performance, and maintain high standards of intelligence submissions. Other duties commensurate with the role are expected.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Memex training to area staff and promote the use and benefits of Memex.
  • Provide face-to-face training on MEMEX and support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
  • Supervise intelligence logs to ensure high quality in submissions.
  • Create entities from Memex submissions and provide regular performance reports with improvement feedback.
  • Maintain high standards of quality in intelligence submissions.
  • Perform other duties commensurate with the role.

Experience / Skills Required

  • Self-motivated and proactive with a good understanding of intelligence and intelligence systems.
  • Ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed it across teams.
  • Excellent influencing skills, ensuring Memex use is standard and safety checks are mandatory.
  • Proven ability to build strong, effective relationships and to create and deliver engaging, inclusive training.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback on intelligence submission performance.
  • Strong self-management and organisational skills and good teamwork to support colleagues in achieving goals.

Additional Information

  • Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices may be required occasionally.
  • Interviews via Microsoft Teams are expected in October.
