Overview

As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems to understand Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a more effective approach to tackling environmental offending and protecting officer safety. This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team. You will support area teams by providing Memex training, promoting the use and benefits of Memex, and improving the quality of intelligence submitted.

Responsibilities

  • Provide face-to-face training to area staff on the MEMEX intelligence system.
  • Support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
  • Supervise intelligence logs to ensure high-quality submissions.
  • Create entities from Memex submissions.
  • Provide regular reports on performance and feedback on improvements.
  • Maintain high standards of quality of intelligence submissions.
  • Respond to incidents as required, including potential incident role, with training and flexible working arrangements as needed.
  • Other duties commensurate with the role.

Experience and Skills (Qualifications)

  • Self-motivated and proactive with a good understanding of intelligence and intelligence systems.
  • Ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed it across teams.
  • Excellent influencing skills; Memex use and safety checks mandatory.
  • Strong relationship-building abilities and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging, inclusive training.
  • Strong self-management and organisational skills; good teamwork.

Location and Working Arrangements

You will be comfortable working in a dispersed team. Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices will be required on occasions.

Interview and Eligibility

Interviews via Microsoft Teams are expected in October. Security vetting checks (SC and NPPV3) will be required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
