Interim Director of Risk & Controls

Cedar is currently working with a leading entertainment group to appoint an Interim Director of Risk and Controls. This is a senior, high-profile assignment on an initial 6-month contract, paying £750-£950 per day, and based in London 2-3 days per week.
The Role
As Interim Director of Risk and Controls, you will:
- Take ownership of the group-wide risk management framework, including enterprise risk registers, appetite statements, and mitigation strategies.
- Drive ongoing enhancement of the internal control environment, with a particular emphasis on financial reporting, compliance, operational resilience, and SOX controls.
- Provide regular, insightful updates to the Audit Committee and senior leadership team on risk exposures, control deficiencies, and remediation progress.
- Establish and embed governance policies and procedures, covering compliance, delegation of authority, and decision-making protocols.
- Collaborate closely with Internal Audit to align assurance activities and testing scope.
- Partner across Finance, Legal, Operations, and Technology to ensure controls are integrated into key initiatives and transformation programmes.
- Act as the primary contact for external auditors and regulators on matters relating to risk, controls, and compliance.
- Advise on ESG-related governance requirements and monitor emerging regulatory developments.
Your Profile
You will ideally have:
- A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
- Extensive experience leading risk and controls functions within a listed or large corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of the UK Corporate Governance Code and global regulatory frameworks, including SOX control models.
- Proven track record of operating within complex, multi-jurisdictional or operationally diverse businesses.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with Audit Committees and senior executives.
Compensation & Benefits
This 6-month interim contract offers £750-£850 per day, alongside the opportunity to shape and strengthen the risk and control environment of a global entertainment leader. Based in London 2-3 days per week (with flexibility), you will work with an ambitious, collaborative leadership team and play a critical role in safeguarding enterprise value through effective risk and governance leadership.
