HR Business Partner – Employee Relations (FTC – 12 Months)
Location: London (Hybrid, Canary Wharf)
Start Date: Within 3 Weeks max
Contract: Fixed-Term – Minimum 12 Months

Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced HR Business Partner – Employee Relations for a minimum 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a pivotal role focused on supporting large-scale transformation and restructuring initiatives within the UK and across Europe.
This opportunity requires deep ER experience beyond policy advisory – specifically in organisational change, workforce transformation, and if you have European Works Council consultation that would be highly advantageous but not essential. Due to the confidential nature of the role, candidates will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before full details are shared.
Who You’ll Work With
You will collaborate closely with the Head of Employee Relations, Senior HR Business Partners, and cross-functional programme teams, alongside the broader HR function. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and key stakeholders during a time of significant change.
Key Responsibilities
HR Advisory & Strategic Partnership
- Operate as a strategic HR partner supporting transformation and organisational change.
- Support the design and delivery of new operating models and restructuring initiatives.
- Provide HR guidance aligned with compliance, business needs, and employee engagement.
Employee Relations Leadership
- Advise on high-risk ER issues, with a focus on restructuring, role redesign, and consultation.
- Deliver legally sound and culturally sensitive approaches across European jurisdictions.
- Collaborate with local HR and legal counsel during collective consultation and change processes.
- Engage with European Works Councils, where applicable.
Transformation & Restructuring
- Contribute to organisational design and change management planning in a matrixed global setting.
- Guide processes related to role changes, redeployment, exits, and communications.
- Advise on employee impacts, communications strategy, and risk management.
HR Policy, Compliance & Collaboration
- Ensure HR policy application is compliant with employment law across multiple jurisdictions.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes impacting people transformation.
- Collaborate with Legal, Finance, and Communications teams to deliver aligned change strategies.

Your Experience & Background
- Proven experience leading or supporting major transformation, restructuring, and consultation processes.
- Demonstrable work with or exposure to European Works Councils or cross-border ER bodies, advantageous.
- Prior experience in financial services or partnership organisations (essential).
- Strong commercial awareness and confident stakeholder management in complex, matrixed organisations.
- Excellent ER technical knowledge, especially around consultation and organisational change.
Additional Details
- Work Pattern: Monday to Friday, 09:30 – 17:30 (minimum 50% office-based as per hybrid working policy).
- Reporting Line: Programme Lead and Head of Employee Relations.
