Interim Senior Legal Counsel | UK Supply/Construction Company | 12-month FTC | Remote or Office

Taylor Root is working with a national distributor and merchant of building products. They're looking to hire an Interim Senior Legal Counsel to join from October for a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. This role provides general corporate and commercial legal support across the UK business.

Responsibilities

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial contracts
• Developing contract templates and policy documents and keeping these up to date
• Providing timely and accurate legal advice and support to the business, liaising with IT, Finance, Property, HR, and claims management, among others
• Ensuring terms and conditions are reviewed and aligned throughout the business
• Managing a number of contentious matters, including liaising with external counsel
• Identifying risk to internal stakeholders and proactively helping to mitigate that risk
• Assisting functional leads in maintaining legislative and regulatory compliance across units (construction products, data protection, health and safety, business ethics, anti-corruption and bribery)
• Keeping up to date with changes in law and regulation, researching changes, and communicating relevant requirements to the business
• Maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders
• Maintaining the UK’s register of trademarks
• Liaising with insurers

Key Requirements

• UK qualified solicitor, or solicitor qualified in another common-law jurisdiction
• Ideally 5+ PQE
• Experience in the building/construction space would be useful but not essential
• Confidence in handling a broad range of issues
• Excellent drafting skills and experience
