Investment Specialist (German Speaker) - European Private Markets – London

Join Mercer to support the Alternatives Investment Director team as Mercer’s Delegated Solutions growth accelerates. The team manages >$40bn in private market and hedge fund mandates through the Mercer platform and advises on over $170bn of mandates globally. The Investment Specialist supports European clients with allocations to private markets and hedge funds, including strategic allocation advice and ongoing review and management of private market commitments and hedge fund allocations.

Reporting to the Alternatives Investment Leader for Europe, the Investment Specialist will engage with European clients and prospects on portfolio construction and manager selection, and support implementation discussions across various alternative asset classes.

We will count on you to:

Responsibilities

• Work closely with our team of Alternative Investment Specialists and Directors to deliver advice and solutions to clients and prospects across Europe
• Liaise with asset class teams to track new themes and opportunities in Alternatives and engage with asset managers for their latest views and portfolio positioning
• Support the delivery of our commingled fund solution range to clients and prospects
• Support our sales and consulting colleagues in marketing and communication of our Alternatives capabilities
• Support large client relationships across Europe and deliver advice on asset allocation, commitment and portfolio planning, including leading investment performance reviews and educational training

What you need to have

• A wealth of investment management or investment consulting experience in a client-facing role
• Experience as an investment consultant with private market expertise is preferable
• German speaker
• Strong communication and presentation skills with background in managing large client relationships, ideally in private markets
• Experience in leading strategic, commercial and implementation discussions with clients
• Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues in multiple jurisdictions
• CFA, CAIA (or equivalent investment qualification)
