IoT Solutions Engineer (C&I Engineer) role at SAUR, Stoke-On-Trent, United Kingdom. This hybrid position combines field-based instrumentation installation on electromechanical water treatment equipment with the deployment and integration of IoT and digital solutions, including communications networks, control systems, and edge devices. The role supports the consulting team with data analysis and reporting, and assists the Digital Development team with product and software development.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the installation, commissioning, and calibration of instrumentation on water treatment and electromechanical systems.
  • Provide front line support to field-based engineers and assist onsite during complex installations and scoping.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to Data Analytics / Consulting Engineers for production of meaningful customer-facing reports in thermodynamic, vibration, and other condition-based maintenance strategies.
  • Deploy and configure IoT and edge devices, including sensor networks, data acquisition systems, and cloud/edge integrations.
  • Set up and maintain IT communications and control systems, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity of devices and equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of thermodynamic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems to enhance predictive and condition-based maintenance outcomes.
  • Assist consulting engineers with data interpretation, IoT-enabled reporting, and final report sign-off for customers.
  • Perform field diagnostics, troubleshooting, and IoT-enabled monitoring of electromechanical equipment.
  • Contribute to the design and rollout of predictive maintenance strategies using IoT data streams (vibration, thermodynamic, and hydraulic condition monitoring).
  • Act as a customer-facing technical representative, ensuring smooth adoption of IoT-enabled solutions on client sites.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Thermodynamic/Hydraulic knowledge or relevant engineering qualification.
  • C&I or Electrical qualification (or proven equivalent experience).
  • Strong knowledge of pumping systems, electromechanical equipment, and instrumentation.
  • Understanding of IoT, data communications, and integration of edge devices with software systems.
  • Experience in customer-facing and site-based engineering roles.
  • Background in production or industrial environments.
  • Hands-on deployment of IoT devices, networks, and edge computing systems.
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance strategies in the water treatment industry (thermodynamic, vibration, condition-based monitoring).

Working for us means

  • Salary between £45,000 and £55,000 per year, depending on experience.
  • Holidays 25 + 8 bank holidays (buy & sell scheme available).
  • Probationary period – 6 months.
  • Pension – auto-enrolled after 3 months; Employee 5% and Employer 5% via salary sacrifice.
  • Private healthcare eligibility after probation.
  • Group Income Protection and Death in Service (4 x basic salary) upon commencement of employment.
  • Notice – 1 week during probation, increasing to 1 month thereafter.
