Job Details Simulation and Modelling Engineer - Graduate Programme 2026 R30312

Overview

We build a variety of dynamic system performance models, embedded systems and real time models for MBDA products. Our models are developed and used throughout the product lifecycle, from concept through in service support. When used internally, performance models allow system designers to estimate performance to guide product design; for customers, performance models help verify system performance while reducing reliance on expensive testing and trials. Real time models contribute to training environments for pilots and provide engineering testing capabilities. Once the product is in service, customers continue to use our models to understand system capability and assist with operator training.

Models of modern weapon systems comprise many automated subsystems integrated to provide overall capability. This creates challenges when developing accurate system- or system-of-system level models that are large and highly interconnected, or when developing lower fidelity models that run in real time while maintaining accurate representation. As a model developer, you will encounter new and exciting problems requiring intuition and innovation, and you’ll learn how to build simulation software in programming languages/environments such as MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow, Fortran, and C/C++.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate dynamic performance models for weapon systems, ensuring they are scalable and interdependent subsystems are accurately represented.
  • Work across multiple projects using Agile practices and collaborative tools; collaborate with other departments and external partners to integrate subsystem models and design data.
  • Contribute to simulations and training environments, and support the use of models throughout the product lifecycle from concept to in-service support.
  • Engage in problem solving within highly technical teams to deliver robust modelling solutions.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Engineering (including General, Mechanical, Manufacturing/Production, Aeronautical/Aerospace, Software), Mathematics, Physics, Computing or Natural Science with a minimum 2:2.
  • Experience or interest in mathematical modelling and programming; familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow, Fortran, and C/C++ is desirable.
  • Security clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. After offer, will undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS).

Rewards and Benefits

Salary: £31,500 plus a £3,000 joining bonus. Dynamic (hybrid) working: majority onsite with flexible team support. Excellent career progression and development opportunities. 25 days annual leave plus option to purchase extra holiday; 15 additional flexi-leave days; and a range of retirement, health, and employee wellbeing programs described by MBDA.
