Mercer, Manchester, United Kingdom. We are seeking a talented individual to join our Defined Contributions (DC) team at Mercer. This is not a senior level role; some pensions consulting experience is desirable. The DC team is the largest group of DC experts in the UK, encompassing governance, scheme design, investment consultants, provider and technical researchers and technicians. This growth area is a key strategic focus for Mercer’s UK business and delivers pension and savings solutions for clients and career opportunities for colleagues. Mercer aims to lead by example through education, tools and services to optimise employer retirement outcomes.

Mercer can help design, plan, and manage customised defined contribution plans both globally and locally. We align organisational objectives with workforce demographics and employee behaviours to identify how employers can help improve retirement outcomes for their employees while meeting workforce management needs.

What can you expect?

  • Provides support to lead consultant on our mid-size to our largest and more complex clients
  • Review work produced by analysts using Mercer software/tools
  • Manage budgets for clients
  • Provide support to internal Mercer teams regarding defined contribution issues
  • Assist trustees and sponsors to run their DC pension arrangements. Clients will include corporate sponsors, trustee boards of trust-based schemes and governance committees of contract-based schemes
  • Expand understanding of client needs and start assisting more senior colleagues in formulating plans to grow revenue and strengthen relationships with clients
  • Attend client meetings to support senior colleagues and assist in preparation including production of meeting papers, and supporting management of actions

  • Provide support to senior colleagues and attend client meetings
  • Be self-motivated and work collaboratively within the DC and wider client team
  • Promote Mercer in the market

What you need to have

  • DC Pensions consulting experience (or similar)
  • Be studying, or prepared to study for a professional qualification (e.g., PMI, CII, CFA, IMC)
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Project management experience (not essential)

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, allowing flexible remote work with in-person collaboration at least three days per week in local offices or with clients. Office-based teams will identify an anchor day each week for in-person team presence.
