About the Role Travelers Legal is our in‑house law firm, fully authorised and regulated as an ABS by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Founded approximately six years ago, it handles actions against Travelers’ policyholders and provides end‑to‑end legal service. We are expanding and are looking for a junior insurance litigator (Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive) to work on a variety of interesting and challenging cases. Reporting to senior team members, you will handle a caseload of professional indemnity claims and, as the ABS expands, potentially other types of claims including financial risks. You will deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective representation and provide excellent client service. Key Responsibilities
Deal with both pre‑action and litigated claims to conclusion, using legal and commercial skills. Provide case analysis and recommendations on strategy / ADR. Supervise tasks and projects delegated to others. Build relationships and liaise closely with Claims Professionals, Brokers and Insureds. Independently handle a moderate caseload of moderate severity and complexity. Work under guidance of the Head of Legal Practice on more complex and high‑exposure claims.
Additionally, you will work with the Head of Legal Practice to set and deliver goals for the ABS, including involvement in planning its further expansion. Candidate Profile Ideal Candidate
Experience in insurance litigation highly desirable. Experience handling professional indemnity and financial risks cases desired. Advanced interpersonal skills. Persuasive legal writing and oral advocacy skills. Clear and succinct oral and written communication. Advanced presentation skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Collaborative team player. Desire to acquire effective trial skills and work on more complex cases. Superior legal acumen and commitment to professional development. Professional integrity and ethical competency. Research, negotiation, prioritisation and problem‑solving skills. Sense of urgency and responsiveness.
Must Have
Fully qualified Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or Barrister in England and Wales. Some Post‑Qualification Experience (PQE).
