Overview

An industry-leading local business known for supplying a beautiful range of products to global customers are looking for a talented Junior Product Developer to join their team and play a crucial role in developing commercial product ranges for our customers, supporting design, development, and delivery from concept through to final sample.

  • Up to £32,000
  • Working hours Monday to Friday 9am-5pm
  • Hybrid working pattern (2 days WFH)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Compose market scoping and competitive shop reports identifying new opportunities for key customers
  • Support range building and sales performance reviews, identifying opportunities and offering design-led solutions
  • Build strong relationships with key customers, supporting their design and development requirements across categories
  • With the support of the Design Manager, prepare and present commercial product opportunities in customer meetings
  • Collaborate with the Design Manager and Account Manager to develop new products and ranges engineered to cost
  • Build strong factory relationships and create clear, commercial design briefs with the aim of achieving “right first time” samples
  • Develop a basic knowledge of cost prices and MOQs, showing curiosity to understand the commercial side of development
  • Manage end-to-end product development for selected accounts, taking responsibility from concept through to approved sample, while meeting Critical Path deadlines
  • Progress samples, keeping both the wider team and customers updated via Development Trackers
  • Manage and maintain the internal PLM system
  • Ensure development timescales align with key Critical Path dates and drop-dead deadlines
  • Build knowledge of product techniques, substrates, and production methods, while developing the ability to engineer products to target cost prices and consider production limitations
  • Assist with creation of seasonal packaging artworks in line with customer guidelines and factory requirements

Required Skills & Experience

  • Design experience within retail / supply industry
  • Possess good knowledge on the homeware market
  • Experience of using Adobe suite
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
