Junior Systems Developer role at TypeOut. Full-time, permanent position with hybrid working potential, based in Central London. Salary £28,000 - £32,000 per annum. Closing date: 21 September 2025.

We are seeking a passionate and motivatedJunior Systems Developer to join our collaborative IT team supporting the development, enhancement and maintenance of internal business systems and contributing to the digital infrastructure that powers our daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Senior Developer and Business Analyst to translate system requirements into reliable code.
  • Develop, enhance and maintain scripts, integrations, and application workflows.
  • Test new and existing functionality to identify bugs and performance issues.
  • Respond to first- and second-line technical support tickets and liaise with users to troubleshoot problems.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge bases and technical documentation.
  • Maintain and support title management and related systems.
  • Work with structured data formats including JSON, XML and CSV.
  • Assist with data cleansing, import/export, and validation tasks as required.
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues across departments to understand operational needs and support users through system changes or upgrades.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to planning discussions.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

You will already have:

  • Experience with databases; FileMaker experience is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of Python or similar programming languages.
  • Familiarity with JSON and API usage.
  • An eagerness to learn and develop technical skills.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A detail-oriented approach, be well organised, and willing to take ownership of tasks.

Experience in these areas are a plus, but not essential:

  • Understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
  • Experience working with third-party APIs and integrations.
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS and basic web development.
  • Knowledge of ETL pipelines or data modelling principles.
  • Previous experience in a publishing or creative industry environment.
