Pattern of Work: Term Time and within school hours
Ashley College is a specialist medical needs pupil referral unit; providing interim education for KS1-KS4 children who are resident in Brent but unable to attend their mainstream school due to their health needs.
Working with parents/carers, mainstream schools, support agencies and professionals we strive to ensure a continuity of care and education. Our home tutors plan, in conjunction with mainstream school, and deliver a highly personalised timetable to support students in the home, or other public setting.
Our children come from diverse settings; will have a specific medical need; may have a history of disrupted or limited schooling and some may have Education and Health Care (EHC) plan.
Our role is to provide education support and act as the stepping stone they need to get them back into their mainstream school or in some cases another provision.
We are looking for:
Responsibilities
To provide educational support for KS1-KS4 students in home or other settings, in collaboration with mainstream schools and Ashley College staff, to support continuity of education and progression back to mainstream provision or another suitable setting.
To deliver a highly personalised timetable in partnership with the mainstream school and in line with National Curriculum requirements.
To work with parents/carers and professionals to coordinate care and education for each student.
To maintain a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment and to record progress and concerns as required by school policy.
Qualifications
- Tutors who are passionate about education, with sound National Curriculum knowledge and experience of teaching KS3/4 English.
- Tutors with at least 2 years teaching experience in a mainstream school.
- Tutors with a UK recognised teaching qualification (i.e. QTS).
