The Employee Relations Manager role requires significant employee relations experience, deep subject matter expertise, and strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will work independently to manage a broad spectrum of ER issues and collaborate with employees and partners across Amazon’s geographic and cultural scope.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure our organization’s treatment of every employee is fair, respectful, and aligned with core business values, policies, and objectives as we strive to be Earth’s Best Employer.
  • Balance proactive and reactive responsibilities to support the objective of positive employee relations.
  • Partner with senior managers and People eXperience & Technology (PXT) teams to create and sustain positive employee relations programs and best practices.
  • Facilitate employee listening sessions/focus groups and design/deliver training programs.
  • Work with large amounts of quantitative and qualitative data to identify root causes, recognize patterns, and develop creative solutions; develop executive-level messaging, reports, and presentations for PXT and business leaders.
  • Proactively enhance the employee experience by identifying and addressing concerns early, de-escalating and resolving workplace issues before they escalate.
  • Serve as a project manager on proactive initiatives to improve employee relations and engagement.
  • On a reactive basis, address a significant amount of work on highly sensitive ER issues that require timely resolution.
  • Balance time between proactive efforts and urgent-response work.

Role Details

  • The position reports to the Head of Employee Experience and Relations UK and Ireland within the Employee Experience and Relations team at Amazon.
  • Full-time role with travel up to 30% of the time, primarily in the UK and Ireland, with occasional travel in Europe.
  • The base location is flexible within the UK due to travel requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience in employee relations, functional human resources, or labor/employment law.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree, law degree, or other specialized training in employee relations is a significant plus.
  • Experience and solid understanding of UK employment and labor laws.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills to build partnerships and influence across management levels and diverse teams.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills in an ambiguous environment; ability to work autonomously with multiple priorities and drive projects to closure.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex, international organizational structures.
