Overview
The Environment Agency is committed to an inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve. We seek diversity, embrace it and live it, for the benefit of our staff, communities and the environment.
Everyone starting in a new role will be welcomed into the team and given all the training and support needed. As part of your comprehensive induction, you will be provided with all the equipment required for your role. We work in partnership with government, local councils, businesses, and communities to manage the impacts of climate change. This is a varied role where no two days are quite the same.
You will be organised, enthusiastic and eager to work in a role that helps make a better place for people and wildlife. You will be part of the Land and Water teams, responsible for water quality, water resources and agricultural regulation.
Responsibilities
- Support Team Leaders and Senior Environment Officers within the Land and Water teams.
- Respond to enquiries, ensuring responses are within statutory deadlines.
- Handle team mailboxes, adhering to records management requirements and retention schedules.
- Manage filing systems to keep information accurate, up-to-date and accessible.
- Help compile case files for enforcement.
- Review and analyse data.
- Assist the area with debt recovery work, collating information using internal systems to recover costs of regulatory and incident response work.
- Handle procurement requests to maintain equipment and supplies.
- Process simple permit and planning applications.
- Support and maintain the in-hours Incident Duty Roster and support the duty desk.
Experience / Skills Required
- A great team worker who can also work independently with minimum supervision.
- Positive attitude with a desire to contribute to a diverse and inclusive work culture.
- Well-organised, able to prioritise effectively and have proven administrative experience.
- Self-motivated and capable of problem solving.
- Proficient written and verbal communication.
- Thorough with a keen eye for detail and accuracy when recording data and managing records.
- Able to analyse data and present results in a suitable format.
- Competent in use of Microsoft Office applications.
A full UK driving licence is required.
You will be supported to take up an appropriate incident management role.
We are an inclusive organisation committed to diversity, health, safety and wellbeing. We welcome flexible working patterns for all vacancies, including job share; please include any preferred working arrangements on your application. We also have a Guaranteed Interview Policy to support those with a disability whose application meets the minimum criteria for the post.
Additional Information
The role will be based in Canterbury / Tonbridge / Abbeywood / Addington. Interviews will be held towards the end of September. The role involves hybrid working (home and office) with travel to different offices across the area and occasional visits to 3rd party sites. A hire car system is available.
Responding to incidents is a central part of the job, requiring availability to respond to incidents and provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract additional payment and full training, with alternative working arrangements available.
