Position Summary
Two Litigation Lawyers are needed for a dynamic and busy Local Authority in‑house Legal Team. The role will report directly to a Senior Lawyer and involves a varied caseload of criminal and civil litigation matters as well as judicial review cases.
Responsibilities
- Handle a varied caseload of criminal and civil litigation matters and judicial review cases.
- Advise, conduct negotiations, draft documents and attend relevant meetings.
- Advise Members and Officers and undertake all contentious proceedings where appropriate.
- Attend Licensing Committees occasionally and advise Members and Officers on related matters.
Qualifications
Candidates should have experience in at least three of the following seven areas:
- Homelessness
- Prosecutions
- Licensing
- Judicial Review
- Education
- Litigation
- No recourse to public funds
Must hold a current Practising Certificate on commencement of the role and be a Qualified Solicitor/Barrister or CILEX in Wales and England. The job is subject to a DBS check.
Special Conditions
Opportunity to transfer skills from private practice into the public sector is considered an advantage.
Location
The role is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford, SE6 4RU. A hybrid approach requires working both in the office and from home regularly; at least 40 % of the time must be spent at Laurence House.
Salary
£52,269 - £54,360 per annum (PO4)
£55,353 - £57,495 per annum (PO5)
