The Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Lead Bridge Engineer to join our Amey Consulting team in Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, with shared office space, attending office when necessary, and remaining days working remotely. We welcome applications from Lead Engineers across this region.

Our Structures Team are involved in designing some of the largest civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Scotland, with values exceeding £1bn.

Amey manages long-term contracts for trunk road networks and has a diverse portfolio of major roads, bridges, and transportation projects across the UK.

These long-term contracts offer excellent opportunities for professional growth in challenging engineering projects.

The role

Our Lead Bridge Engineers support and lead design teams, working alongside clients like Transport Scotland. Responsibilities include leading teams, producing designs, overseeing junior staff, managing project budgets, liaising with stakeholders, contributing to bids, and promoting health and safety.

What you will bring to us:

• Experience in a Senior Engineer role or equivalent in relevant technical fields.
• Ability to produce and check engineering solutions adhering to standards and client requirements.
• Experience with health, safety, and welfare project management.
• Knowledge of design and specification processes, capable of advising and checking designs.
• Proficiency with relevant software and analytical tools.
• Understanding of CDM regulations and risk management.
• Management skills for leading a medium-sized technical team.
• Incorporated or Chartered status is desirable.
