We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Business Analyst (Grade 11) to join the Change Practices team on a permanent basis.
Team Overview:
The Change Practices team is responsible for the Transformation and Change capability. Each practice area promotes best practice and maturity of processes in their area.
The BA Practice team within the Change Practices Team:
- Provides a Business Analysis resource pool for complex changes
- Leads the BA Community of Practice to define, maintain, and embed a framework for best practice in business analysis
- Ensures the quality of requirements production across Elexon
Job Purpose:
The Lead Business Analyst provides business analysis capability and matrixed resources to Elexon’s cross-functional teams, including digital products and industry change teams. This senior role offers leadership and business analysis services.
The Lead BA oversees and enhances the performance of the BA team within a programme, managing resources, ensuring high-quality activities, and fostering continuous improvement. Responsibilities include mentoring, coaching, quality reviews, and developing the BA Practice capability by implementing best practices and promoting collaboration and agility.
The role also involves eliciting, analyzing, and documenting business requirements, facilitating communication between business and technical stakeholders, and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead analysis on complex projects and programmes, and support smaller projects as needed.
- Plan and ensure the completion of business analysis activities for initiatives.
- Collaborate with team members to draft requirements that meet business outcomes.
- Improve programme delivery using best practices in Agile and analysis.
- Mature the BA Practice team, capabilities, and frameworks by sharing best practices and creating templates.
- Apply standards to ensure consistency and reusability of requirements and artefacts.
- Build and embed a trusted business analysis framework within Elexon.
- Develop positive cross-team working relationships and support dependency management.
- Mentor team members, conduct quality reviews, and ensure requirements are aligned with enterprise architecture.
- Assure the quality of analysis performed by less experienced BAs and other requirements authors.
- Lead by example in Elexon’s values and behaviors such as collaboration and agility.
- Elicit, analyze, define, document, and communicate business requirements clearly to stakeholders.
- Facilitate understanding of business impact and ensure clarity on solutions.
- Engage with all relevant stakeholders, including industry representatives.
- Manage line and performance management, resource allocation, and quality assurance of BA activities.
- Proactively propose additional tasks and facilitate complex initiative sessions.
- Contribute to team policies, processes, and procedures development.

- Recognized BA qualifications (e.g., BCS Diploma, IIBA CCBA/CBAP)
- Familiar with enterprise architecture tools and Agile tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps)
- Experience with data analysis and modelling
- Experience in digital transformation and developing business cases
- Line management and coaching experience
