About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Cyber Security Analyst to join our Central Functions line of business. We are flexible with locations, although Adelaide is the preferred location for this position.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and Hybrid working.
Reporting to the Cyber Security Operations Manager, you will work within the Cyber Security Operations team and will be responsible for leading elements of critical capabilities such as incident response, digital forensics, cyber security engineering, and acting as a cyber-security technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for projects. You will have a very high level of understanding around how operating systems and networks work, how threats actors breach these systems, what controls can be put in place to minimise the likelihood of such incidents, and how to build and maintain cyber security solutions.
You will ensure that the organisation's strong cyber security posture is maintained through a number of proactive and reactive programs of work, work with other cyber security streams and other business units to ensure cyber security operational requirements are being met in order to deliver strong capabilities to the organisation. You will identify cyber security gaps within our environment and undertake remediation activities to resolve such gaps.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a small team of analysts focussed on specific cyber security capabilities
- Operate as a cyber-security technical SME for both unclassified and classified environments
- Review, build, maintain, and mature cyber security capabilities to ensure the company is protected against existing and developing threats
- Lead in incident response, forensic reviews, and internal investigations
- Be an escalation point for complex queries
- Mentor and develop team members of various levels
- Participate in internal/ external cyber security forums and exercises
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the organisation's security posture and be proactive in recommending changes and enhancements where required
- Participate in on-call roster as needed
About YOU
- A degree in ICT/ Engineering or equivalent experience
- Professional Cyber Security certifications such as those from Offensive Security or SANS an advantage
- Proven experience leading a small team of cyber security professionals
- Demonstrated experience working in incident response and digital forensics
- Detailed understanding of hacker tools, techniques and procedures
- Detailed understanding and experience with cyber security technologies such as AV, EDR, SIEM, Email and Web proxies, and Vulnerability Scanners
- Experience in IT fundamentals such as systems administration and networking
- Good understanding of Information security manual (ISM) and other global Industry security standards (NIST, ISO, PCI DSS, etc.) relating to ICT Security
- Broad stakeholder communication skills (cross-functional), strong customer focus able to utilise negotiation skills and manage potential conflicts
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
