Salary: £45,718 - £48,710
The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) brings together the local authorities of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield to serve the communities and businesses of South Yorkshire. We are delivering recovery and renewal for people, businesses and places across South Yorkshire. We are working with Local Authority partners, emergency services and National Highways to deliver a bold vision for safer roads as part of Vision Zero – ending deaths and serious injuries on South Yorkshire’s roads.
As part of our central Insight Team, you’ll work closely with the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership, which includes SYMCA, Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, City of Doncaster Council, Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, Sheffield City Council, South Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, and National Highways. We are building a data-driven approach to road safety that puts evidence at the heart of decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead analytical work to support the Safer Roads Partnership’s strategic goals.
- Collaborate with partners to gather and cleanse data from diverse sources.
- Apply advanced quantitative techniques to generate actionable insights.
- Create engaging visualisations to communicate findings.
- Support the development of performance frameworks and reporting plans.
- Act as an intelligent client for commissioned research projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead on analysing road traffic collision data and developing new Safety Performance Indicators.
- Support evaluation of road safety interventions and inform strategic decisions.
- Collaborate with senior leaders across the partnership; manage commissioned research projects.
- Develop interactive visualisations and reports that bring data to life.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Highly skilled in statistical analysis and data visualisation (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).
- Experience managing complex projects and working with external consultants.
- Knowledgeable in data governance, ethical research, and data protection.
- Confident communicator able to present complex insights to senior stakeholders.
- Collaborative and committed to making a difference through evidence-based policy.
- Familiar with GIS software and qualitative research methods (desirable).
