Purpose
We are looking for a highly capable Data Scientist to join our data team, working closely with product owners, architects and engineers. The ideal candidate will be adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for product development. You should have strong R&D experience using a variety of data mining & data analysis methods and tools including building and implementing models and algorithms. You must have a proven ability to drive business results with your data-based insights. You should be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering insights hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, mine and analyse the data sets we have to identify valuable insights
Identify and feed back changes to data collection and capture that may enable additional insights
Coordinate across teams to implement data models and monitor outcomes
Develop custom data models and analysis algorithms to apply to the data sets
Use AI driven approaches to create scalable and innovative solutions where necessary
Ensure we understand and can demonstrate the effectiveness and accuracy of the data sources, data gathering techniques and resulting analytics
Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyse performance and accuracy
Key Skills and Qualifications
A Master’s degree or PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or other quantitative field
5+ years' experience using data analytical languages (Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets in relational, non-relational and data lake sources
Experience with Apache Spark / PySpark
Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development
Experience working with and creating data architectures
Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques, their real-world advantages/drawbacks and the MLOps lifecycle including fine tuning models
Knowledge of advanced statistical and data mining techniques and concepts and experience with applications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams and communicating with senior stakeholders
A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
Experience with data visualisation tools, PowerBI preferred
Experience with a cloud provider, Azure preferred
Experience using Python, PySpark, SQL
Experience using PowerBI
