Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Create and drive the data architecture strategy across Nexus, ensuring alignment with business needs and new technology trends.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and support a team of Data Solution Architects, helping them deliver high-quality and scalable data solutions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders, enterprise architects, and department heads to ensure the architecture supports business goals.
- Technical Guidance & Oversight: Provide hands-on technical leadership to maintain high standards in how data solutions are designed and built.
- Data Governance & Compliance: Ensure data systems meet security, quality, and compliance standards and follow best practices.
- Architectural Oversight: Review and approve all architectural designs to ensure they are secure, scalable, and in line with company strategy.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with business and IT teams to ensure the data architecture meets current and future reporting and analytics needs.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate regularly with teams and leaders across the business to share updates, plans, and progress.
- Resource Allocation & Project Management: Oversee project timelines and team resources to deliver high-value data architecture work on time and within scope.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience leading data architecture teams and building enterprise-wide data platforms.
- Ability to create and deliver a clear, long-term data architecture plan.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-based data systems (AWS, Azure, or Snowflake).
- Solid understanding of data governance, compliance, and data quality.
- Skilled in designing and reviewing complex data architecture solutions.
- Experience working in financial services, especially credit cards or payments.
- Comfortable working with senior leaders, business users, and tech teams.
- Strong background in data solutions like data warehouses and data modelling.
- Familiar with Agile and Waterfall project methods.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or Snowflake.
- Knowledge of real-time data tools like Confluent Kafka.
- Experience working with data from many different sources.
- Knowledge of Data Vault, Data Lake, and Data Mart design in the cloud.
- Strong SQL skills and experience tuning complex queries.
- Experience working in data science environments (e.g., AWS S3, Jupyter Notebooks).
- Familiar with ETL tools like AWS Glue or Informatica.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in credit cards or other regulated industries.
- Hands-on work with AWS, Azure, or Snowflake.
- Knowledge of real-time data tools like Confluent Kafka.
