You will be working in flexible agile squads delivering value on multiple greenfield workstreams in the delivery family to deliver core foundational functionality that will be used by multiple SaaS product offerings across the business. Although largely a technical expert, guiding the team, you will be expected to also be hands‑on as necessary. You will have started your career as a software engineer working across a wide range of technologies to deliver complex SaaS commercial applications. A sound technical background is essential to be successful in this role, however, this opportunity will also encompass many management dimensions such as project execution, stakeholder management, team engagement, recruitment, release management and continuous process improvement. You will play a key role in designing and creating new features and enhancing existing code whilst ensuring the multiple micro services that the team is responsible for continue to meet high levels of reliability, maintainability, usability, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Lead System Architect to define the architecture the individual scrum teams will implement
- Contribute to the design of SaaS software solutions meeting functional and non-functional requirements.
- Lead and guide implementation of product code, following best practices for maintainability, testability and performance.
- Lead and guide implementation of test‑related code (unit tests, test frameworks and associated automated test cases).
- Review and debug code to identify defects, performance bottlenecks or technical debt.
- Conduct PoC's using the latest technologies and present the findings to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Implement high-performance solutions targeting Azure using IaC.
- Optionally take on people management responsibilities.
Required Skills
The technology stack is primarily Angular, C#, and Azure along with other suitable technologies guided by our internal tech radar. We are therefore looking for developers with both front and back‑end skills to complement our existing teams, hence candidates will need to demonstrate:

- Experience with backend development: RESTful API's and services for Microsoft cloud deployments using C# .NET Core, Azure infrastructure and services, JSON/XML.
- Experience of working with cloud technologies, specifically the Azure stack.
- Strong appreciation of DevOps principles, with the ability to create automated processes to continuously deliver SaaS products on a regular cadence.
- Experience with software engineering best practices: object-oriented, design patterns, SOLID principles.
- Experience with software development ecosystem (IDE's, version control, test automation/CI, etc.).
- Strong appreciation of building flexible cross‑functional full-stack squads with shift‑left DevOps, SRE and QA culture.
Desirable Skills
- Appreciation of current and emerging technologies along with their potential benefits and limitations
- General knowledge of the Insurance Industry
- An appreciation of UX principles, ability to iterate commercial‑quality GUI implementations working from wireframes/mockups and other assets produced by UX designers.
- Experience with and an interest in growing in areas of people and team management.
- Familiarity with Python, Machine Learning and data pipelines
- Familiar with Pulumi, ARM templates or other Infrastructure as Code technologies
- Experience of Host, Network and Perimeter Security design and implementation.

Work Style
At WTW, we trust you to know your work and the people, tools and environment you need to be successful. The majority of our colleagues work in a "hybrid" style, with a mix of remote, in‑person and in‑office interactions dependent on the needs of the team, role and clients.
