Embedded seamlessly within our clients’ in-house teams, we collaborate harmoniously to turn dreams into reality. Our portfolio boasts groundbreaking games developed in collaboration with major studios worldwide. As a fully remote studio, we value clear, continuous, and transparent communication as highly as technical expertise.
We are seeking a Lead Environment Artist to join our Unreal Engine 5 game project. The role requires both artistic and organizational skills, with a strong emphasis on creating stylized environments that run seamlessly on Nintendo Switch. As Lead, you will balance hands-on environment creation with leadership responsibilities, guiding the team to deliver high-quality, optimized environments that match the game’s painterly art direction.
This is for a fixed term contract until the end of October 2025.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Production to scope, prioritise, and plan environment tasks.
- Create visually striking, stylised environments consistent with the project’s art direction.
- Set visual benchmarks and quality expectations for the environment team.
- Review and provide constructive feedback on environment assets and scenes.
- Mentor, coach, and support the professional growth of environment artists.
- Assign, delegate, and track tasks in Jira and other project management tools.
- Ensure efficient, optimised workflows suitable for Nintendo Switch while preserving visual fidelity.
- Identify risks and propose solutions to keep production on schedule.
- Collaborate closely with the Art Director and other discipline leads to ensure environments integrate seamlessly with gameplay and narrative needs.
- Contribute to fostering a healthy, creative, and supportive team culture.
Requirements
- Shipped at least one title as a Lead or Senior Environment Artist.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with proven people management experience.
- Portfolio showcasing recent examples of stylised environments.
- Deep understanding of composition, shape language, and stylisation principles.
- Expertise in optimised 3D asset creation and PBR workflows.
- Proficiency with 3D modelling tools (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Blender).
- Experience with Substance Painter and Photoshop for texturing.
- Comfortable using task tracking/project management software such as Jira.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in Unreal Engine 4+, especially with stylised rendering pipelines.
- Background in both hard-surface and organic/foliage asset creation.
- Familiarity with parallax layering, shader-driven workflows, and performance optimisation for portable platforms.
Benefits
- A competitive salary.
- A clear career progression path with opportunities for growth and recognition.
- Fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere.
- Work alongside industry veterans.
- Be part of a passionate, dynamic team working on exciting, boundary-pushing projects.
Take your creativity to the next level and help us craft unforgettable characters that evoke the magic of an iconic era. Apply now and embark on an incredible journey with one of the best game studios in the world!
