Lead Experience Designer

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with small, cross-functional teams to create experience design deliverables including journey maps, service blueprints, roadmaps, prototypes, and design systems.
  • Facilitate workshops, develop design strategies for products and make strategic decisions at the portfolio level.
  • Apply research methods such as context analysis, moderated interviews, experiments and user tests to clearly present your methods to clients and teammates.
  • Set up design hypotheses for delivery teams that include Thoughtworkers and customers.
  • Ensure that project scope, risks and updates are regularly assessed and communicated.
  • Balance client and Thoughtworker expectations by clearly communicating experience design deliverables.
  • Extend your expertise to teammates by providing on-the-job training and support on all aspects of experience design methods and tools.
  • Advocate experience design expertise to the broader Thoughtworks community and beyond by speaking at conferences, webinars, meetups and more.
  • Lead and advise research activities on experience design projects, employing methods such as contextual inquiry, moderated interviews, experiments and user testing.

Qualifications

  • You are well versed in experience design with specialties in at least three areas such as user research, service design, digital product design, interface design, visual design or other design-related disciplines.
  • You are comfortable leading and advising research activities on experience design projects.
  • You bring an inspiring, unique approach to product design and enjoy facilitating client brainstorms and internal sessions with your team.
  • You are happy to design solo or collaborate with designers/developers to create a wide range of deliverables.
  • You have a keen interest in helping others grow in their design skills and capabilities.
  • You can liaise between clients and other key stakeholders to ensure buy-in and trust.
  • You can communicate and define project roles to your design teammates and build confidence in others.
  • You are passionate about contributing to the growing experience design community at Thoughtworks through peer reviews and ensuring consistency in design quality.
  • Portfolio link showcasing expertise in digital products (web and mobile) is required; Enterprise/SaaS experience is preferred.
