Salary: Up to £65,000 (dependent on experience) + 21% Bonus
Join an award-winning leader in advanced defence technology and take charge of the design, development, and delivery of intricate electronic sub‑systems — from concept through to production. As a Senior Engineering Project Manager, you’ll be a pivotal part of a growing and highly capable Electronics Engineering function, driving projects that underpin some of the UK’s most sophisticated defence systems.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Engineering Project Manager (SEPM), you’ll oversee the full lifecycle delivery of our most critical and complex electronic design and development programmes — ensuring they meet demanding requirements for performance, cost, and timescale. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across electronics, systems, software, and manufacturing, ensuring the seamless integration of technologies into final products.
This role combines technical understanding and strong leadership — perfect for someone who thrives on delivering innovation through structured project management and enjoys working in a technically rich environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of advanced electronic sub‑systems for defence and aerospace applications.
- Drive project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk management activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to quality.
- Work closely with engineering leads, technical specialists, and manufacturing to transition designs from concept into production.
- Apply project management best practices including Risk, Stakeholder, Compliance, and Configuration Management, as well as Earned Value Management.
- Mentor and support Project Coordinators and Controllers, helping develop future project leaders.
- Contribute to the evolution of delivery strategy and represent Electronics Engineering across internal and external engagements.
What We’re Looking For
- A strong background in electronic engineering — ideally with hands‑on experience in the development of complex electronic units or sub‑systems.
- Proven track record delivering significant engineering projects or programmes within a technically demanding environment.
- Solid understanding of Project Management processes and tools, including risk, cost, configuration, and stakeholder management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams through all project phases, from concept to close.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly organised, with attention to detail and pride in delivery quality.
- Experience managing defence, aerospace, or high‑reliability electronics projects.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6 or equivalent project scheduling tools.
- Experience mentoring or developing junior project staff.
What We Can Offer You
- Bonus: Up to 21% of base salary (dependent on company performance).
- Pension: Up to 14% combined employer/employee contribution.
- Flexible working: Options for part‑time or compressed hours (4 or 5 days).
- Enhanced parental leave: Up to 26 weeks (plus enhancements for paternity, neonatal, and fertility support).
- Facilities: Subsidised meals, free parking, on‑site gym, and wellbeing amenities.
- Career Path: Progression toward Delivery Lead and Sector Lead roles — overseeing larger portfolios and teams.
