Opportunity

We’re looking for a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to join our Technology team within Tesco Insurance and Money Services. It’s an exciting time in our business. In your role you’ll be a senior technical authority responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust infrastructure solutions across the organisation’s technology estate.

The Role

Reporting to the Principal Engineer, this role serves as a domain expert in one or more core infrastructure areas – such as cloud, networking, compute, or storage – while maintaining a strong working knowledge across adjacent domains. The Lead Infrastructure Engineer ensures that infrastructure services are secure, scalable, and compliant with regulatory requirements (e.g., FCA, PRA, GDPR). They lead engineering efforts, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver resilient and efficient platforms. The Lead Infrastructure Engineer will deputise for the Principal Infrastructure Engineer and will, where required, assume leadership responsibilities, ensuring continuity of technical direction, decision‑making, and stakeholder engagement.

You’ll Need (Min Experience)

  • Deep expertise in at least one infrastructure domain (e.g., network, EUC, security) with strong working knowledge of other infrastructure domains to support cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), infrastructure‑as‑code (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, ARM), and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell).
  • Proven ability to lead technical delivery, mentor engineering teams and represent infrastructure in architectural forums.
  • Experience in incident response, root cause analysis, and performance tuning.
  • Experience implementing secure infrastructure solutions with auditability and access controls.
