Your role
The Market Data Services (MDS) Category & Sourcing lead role is responsible for the development and execution of sourcing and category management strategies for all MDS-related sourcing needs. The MDS Category & Sourcing lead role optimizes costs, manages supplier relationships, manages data compliance and aligns procurement activities with UBS’s technology and digital transformation goals.
We are looking for someone like you to:
- Lead a team of Category Managers and Sourcing Specialists in building and executing category and sourcing strategies (including vendor plans and procurement strategies, building partnerships). Define the category strategy with value opportunities, spend profiling and segmentation, cost-structure analysis, market dynamics assessment, internal requirements, procurement risks, go-to-market model and the implementation plan.
- Be accountable for category performance across all Category Scorecards, overseeing KPI measurement and remediation actions where needed.
- Negotiate MDS-related complex deals and be accountable for the commercial performance of the team against targets.
- Manage large, complex, group-wide relationships with key strategic vendors, ensuring compliance with Vendor Risk Framework and fostering a commercial partnership approach to avoid value leakage.
- Act as business advisory lead for Business Divisions/Group Functions, maintaining stakeholder relationships and addressing queries on MDS vendor & services topics (e.g., service descriptions, options, cost reduction levers).
- Proactively identify and address non-compliant data usage, ensure proper licensing, and inform the business on market data usage policies going forward.
Your team
You will be working in the MDS team. The team is part of the Supply Chain organization, a function in Group Real Estate and Supply Chain (GRESC). Supply Chain was created to enhance value identification and delivery within GRESC, supporting UBS with its third party vendor management as well as with its Real Estate and Outsourcing footprint.
Your expertise
- Ideally 15+ years of procurement-related experience in category management, VRM and/ or sourcing
- Deep understanding of the MDS domain, including products and services, usage rights, third party policies, market dynamics, key drivers, and intersection with technology
- Proven experience in contract management, procurement, or a related field
- Experience in identification and evaluation of new and emerging technology trends (e.g., AI), tools, and vendor capabilities to support digital transformation initiatives
- Strong strategic and analytical mindset with ability to set and deliver on financial targets
- Expert negotiation and deal-making experience
- Ability to communicate with senior management; excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong people management and collaboration skills
