Overview
Our Defence and Security teams provide design and engineering services for our nuclear and defence clients across the UK and abroad. Our team is experiencing exciting growth and long-term prospects within our established practice, and we are looking for Mechanical/HVAC engineers with transferable skills who are passionate about developing themselves and in meeting new challenges. We offer hybrid working with 1-2 days in the office. Occasional site visits may be necessary.
About the opportunity
We are looking to recruit and develop career minded people to bolster our well-established and growing multi-discipline engineering delivery capability to meet opportunities in the nuclear and defence industries. Our projects include developing solutions through all RIBA stages in highly regulated environments, in support of air, land and sea defence establishments, the UK nuclear submarine fleet, and both existing and new build nuclear power stations.
You will preferably have experience of working in the nuclear and/or defence industries, but also those with relevant industrial design experience looking to work in a technically challenging environment. In this role you will be part of a several hundred strong team across the UK, working within the Mechanical Engineering team based in Glasgow, Warrington, Bristol, Or Reading.
Responsibilities
- Support design and engineering delivery for mechanical building services in defence and nuclear sectors.
- Produce design deliverables such as plant sizing calculations (heating, cooling, fan sizing) and commissioning of mechanical building systems.
- Utilise engineering software packages (CAD, Hevacomp, BIM and simulation tools) and reference relevant CIBSE guides.
- Liaise with multiple stakeholders and coordinate with other design disciplines.
- Produce tender specifications for mechanical building services.
- Occasional expensed travel to client sites as required.
Qualifications
- Relevant Mechanical Engineering education.
- Experience in the use of CIBSE guides.
- Experience in the production of design deliverables including plant sizing and commissioning of mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with engineering software packages such as CAD, Hevacomp, BIM and simulation tools.
- Ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders and coordinate with other design disciplines.
- Experience in producing tender specifications for mechanical building services.
- You must be UK-based and able/willing to obtain SC level security clearance, which includes in the UK for the preceding 5 years.
