This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, ensuring systems remain secure, scalable, and resilient. You'll drive platform transformation projects, champion automation, mentor engineers, and engage with stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions that underpin business-critical services.Job DetailsJob Title: Lead Platform EngineerLocation: Manchester (Hybrid - 1 day per week in office)Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 + BenefitsEligibility: Must be UK-based (no sponsorship available)ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement cloud platforms across Azure & GCPBuild and optimise internal platforms to support development teamsAutomate provisioning, scaling, and configuration managementLead migration and modernisation projects from inception to deliveryDrive best practices in cloud architecture, DevOps, and automationCollaborate with cross-functional teams on greenfield solutionsLead incident response and root-cause analysis with preventative actionMentor engineers and act as a trusted technical authorityEnsure cost efficiency, security, and performance across platformsEssential Skills & Experience5+ years' experience as a Senior/Lead Cloud or Platform EngineerHands-on expertise with Azure and Google Cloud PlatformStrong background with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM Templates, etc.)Proven track record with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD)Scripting and automation (Python, Shell, Perl, or similar)Knowledge of data centre ops, networking, IT security, and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog)Excellent communication and stakeholder management skillsAgile delivery experienceDesirable SkillsDegree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fieldOracle application/database experienceFamiliarity with Unix/Solaris environmentsService mesh & API gateway knowledge (Istio, Linkerd)Multi-cloud or hybrid infrastructure exposureUnderstanding of DevSecOps practices and complianceQuality and ComplianceDesired Skills and Experience: Lead Platform Engineer — Manchester (Hybrid) | £80,000 - £90,000 + Benefits | UK-based (no sponsorship) #J-18808-Ljbffr
