Lead Procurement Specialist role at Baker Hughes

Responsibilities

  • Providing end-to-end procurement support for a defined set of complex direct materials or services.
  • Applying sourcing policies and interfacing between supplier, entity, and internal stakeholders regarding specifications, budgets, and schedules.
  • Supporting the Regional Procurement Leader with team KPIs, procurement initiatives and operational objectives.
  • Obtaining quotes, placing and following up on POs.
  • Managing supplier relationships for PO execution, handling problems and schedule changes, and updating ERP and internal stakeholders.
  • Defining and improving sourcing strategies at business or plant level; may include communication management to regional business teams.
  • Developing and distributing departmental reports to support internal KPIs and operational schedules.
  • Managing relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders for PO execution and budget savings.
  • Communicating changes and resolving problems as required.
  • Supporting department resource planning and strategic initiatives; delegating tasks and setting priorities as needed.
  • Supporting department training including process, systems, and onboarding.
  • Advising functional managers or other functions on approaches, processes, and procedures in their own field.
  • Handling communication with direct colleagues and the business about approaches and methods for solving complex problems.
  • Contributing to projects as a team member or leading small projects; typical work goals take 3–6 months to complete with impact over 2–12 months after the event.

Qualifications

  • Have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Demonstrate proven experience in Sourcing / Procurement.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact.
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
