Lead Protection & Control Engineer – Contract – Hybrid – Glasgow – Outside IR35

VIQU has partnered with a leading consultancy in the energy sector to seek an experienced Lead Protection & Control Engineer. You’ll play a key role in delivering complex Protection & Control solutions across Transmission and Distribution projects, ensuring compliance, quality, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and delivery of Protection & Control systems.
• Develop SLDs, KLDs, architecture diagrams, and concept designs.
• Conduct site surveys and provide technical input for tenders.
• Produce and review schematics, layouts, calculations, and schedules.
• Chair design workshops and interface with clients and stakeholders.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to required standards.

Key Requirements

• Strong experience as a Lead Protection & Control Engineer.
• Knowledge of key technologies and vendors, with solid background within the Energy industry.
• Hands‑on experience with IEC61850 and related field implementation.
• Understanding of communications, substation protocols, and Cyber Security requirements.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel when needed.
