Commercial Banking division has a rich heritage of supporting businesses and the economic prosperity of the nation, and you can make a real impact in how this is done.What you’ll doAs Lead Software Engineer you\'ll be tasked with a variety of responsibilities that are crucial to our success. This is a leadership level role and will blend both technical expertise with a great passion for coaching and developing people, including advocating team wellbeing.Lead and mentor a multi-skilled team to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions to support business goals.Participate in the full software development lifecycle to design, build and deliver maintainable, testable, observable and resilient software systems.Collaborate with feature teams and third parties to identify and implement creative solutions that align with business objectives.Use agile tools, methodologies and data to monitor progress, addressing any issues promptly to ensure timely delivery. Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful implementations to live.Develop and document processes to improve engineering efficiency and service quality.Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, fostering an environment of learning and growth within the team.Management of third-party suppliers to ensure solutions are performant, secure and resilient, and meet bank objectives and client needs.Monitor and analyse service performance metrics to continually improve our offerings.Accept 24/7 accountability and ownership to support availability, currency and performance.Ensure that all engineering activities align with industry standards and regulations.What you’ll needProven experience in a leadership role within engineering, with a track record of mentoring and developing talent.Strong commercial experience in the full software development lifecycle working with at least two of the following languages and frameworks: React, Redux, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, Java 17+, Spring Boot and relational databases.Breadth of technical understanding across software development and architecture, service operations, DevOps, and cloud.Experience of agile development practices, DevOps pipelines, continuous integration / deployment, test automation and the end-to-end software development lifecycle.Strong communication skills, dynamic and adaptable, with the ability to facilitate efficient and effective decision-making.
