Lead Test Engineer – Manchester Digital (DWP Digital with Purpose)

Join the team at Manchester Digital as a Lead Test Engineer. In this role you will be part of the DWP Digital with Purpose initiative, a cross‑departmental group focused on building and maintaining high‑quality digital solutions used by millions of people across the UK.

Responsibilities

• Define, drive and manage the test strategy for Oracle Fusion and new business processes.
• Produce test plans, scripts, schedules and reports; manage control gates across all phases.
• Hands‑on defect management, risk mitigation and stakeholder engagement.
• Run key activities such as payroll parallel runs and other critical test runs.
• Grow the Test Engineering capability: support career development, manage supplier relationships and build a strong, skilled community of testers.

Qualifications

• Strong experience leading test teams across modern SaaS platforms, particularly Oracle Fusion.
• Agile and Lean expertise: coach and lead teams, adapt the right approach throughout the project lifecycle and advocate continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication: clearly and enthusiastically articulate priorities and expectations.
• Expertise in up‑to‑date non‑functional testing techniques, defect management and reporting.
• Mentorship and peer review: actively support team development, understand individual needs and ensure skills are fully utilised.

Working Arrangements

We work a hybrid model. You will spend some time working from home and some time collaborating face‑to‑face in a hub.
