Legal Counsel - Commercial or Construction Lawyer

We’re looking for a Commercial or Construction lawyer to join our dynamic and diverse Legal team, based at our head office in Coventry. In this role, you’ll help lead on a variety of legal matters, working with both the water business and Severn Trent group companies on a wide range of day‑to‑day matters and strategic projects. Whilst demonstrable commercial and/or construction experience is sought, this is a generalist role that requires adaptability and pro‑activity across a breadth of legal areas.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will develop and implement legal support to deliver the strategic business plans and company performance targets, ensuring our long‑term business goals are protected. Working closely with leadership teams, you will be involved in wider decision making and be prepared to support business decisions as well as providing first‑class legal advice. You will continually review and consider any forthcoming changes in legal or regulatory requirements that could impact our business and companies. This is a business‑leader role with regular reporting into senior stakeholders and acting as a legal business partner to teams across the organisation.

How We Work

You’ll be based at our Severn Trent Centre in Coventry. As this is a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week, primarily in the office with flexibility to work from home when needed.

What We’re Looking For

Demonstrable commercial and/or construction legal experience, preferably gained from working in‑house and on major strategic projects. A self‑starter with strong leadership skills and a collaborative partnering approach to working with business colleagues and the wider Legal team.
