About the Person

We are looking for an experienced Lighting Electronics and Integration Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in automotive lighting electronics/system integration and the ability to work independently. You will be flexible and willing to travel for Group partner projects, primarily based in Germany. A degree in automotive electronics, electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent experience is highly preferred. Familiarity with vehicle communication systems/architecture (e.g., CAN, LIN, Flexray) and diagnostic tools (e.g., IDEX, ODIS) is essential. Proficiency in the German language would be an advantage.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Previous Experience: Automotive lighting electronics/system integration engineering experience.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across R & D teams and with Group partners.
  • Autonomy: Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel to Germany and other locations as needed.
  • Driving License: A full driving license is essential for this role.
  • Preferred Languages: Knowledge of German would be advantageous.
  • Systems and Tools: Experience using diagnostic tools such as IDEX, ODIS, and familiarity with vehicle communication protocols like CAN, LIN, or Flexray.

About the Role

As a Lighting Electronics and Integration Engineer, you will be part of the team responsible for the delivery of series and prototype automotive lighting electronics and software solutions, ensuring compliance with quality standards, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lighting Systems Development: Define and develop electrical system software and functional requirements based on vehicle specifications, and ensure integration of lighting systems across all vehicles.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Group counterparts to develop lighting functions, systems, and architectures for world-class exterior lighting solutions.
  • Software Development and Validation: Oversee the development and validation of light software components for key automotive functions (e.g., low beam, high beam, turn indicator, brake light).
  • Project Management: Manage software releases in accordance with calibration maturity and build timings. Coordinate testing (both vehicle-based and hardware rig-based).
  • Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with various departments, including Production, Certification, Aftersales, and suppliers, to resolve issues and ensure the successful integration of lighting systems.
  • Feasibility Studies: Conduct feasibility and concept study activities within the team and support the project planning process.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure compliance with FuSi (Functional Safety) requirements and implementation.

Systems/Tools Experience

  • Diagnostic Tools: Experience with diagnostic tools (e.g., IDEX, ODIS) is essential.
  • Vehicle Communication: Knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Flexray is highly desirable.
